**In line with our ethos, these Elite Team Classes / examinations are optional, and will not interfere with the standard/timetabled WHAM Sessions**

ELITE TEAM CLASSES.

SESSIONS & EXPECTATIONS.

COMMITMENT, EFFORT & CONSISTENCY.

Our ethos for those attending our weekly classes is to encourage confidence building, and to raise self esteem. Which is why projects like these are optional, and not compulsory. Some students may soar at a weekly class, but could struggle with the discipline of a new task such as exams.

However, there are those students who will thrive in a structured and more-disciplined environment.

Even though we expect occasional absences at our standard classes  (which can be down to illness or other activities), full commitment, dedication and home practice is required by all students attending our Elite Team Classes.

As this is a group commitment, if a student is unable to attend on a regular basis, this will have an impact on the rest of the class.  Therefore,  if for any reason a student cannot make it due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, then this must be discussed with us as soon as possible. We do understand that there may be pre-arranged events already in place for you.

If there are more than 2 Elite Team sessions that are missed in any half term (without prior discussion with the Principal or Teacher) then we have the right to re-evaluate whether Elite Team classes are suitable for your child.  Absence could not only affect the rest of the group, but could also cause more pressure & stress on that individual student

ABOUT GROUP MUSICAL THEATRE EXAMS

In order to obtain a Group Exam , all students must be seen to be participating in a group Musical Theatre Excerpt in equal measure (i.e. seen to be contributing to the group via singing, dancing, and connection to their character).

Group Exams differ from Solo Examinations, there is less pressure and is perfect for those students who do not feel ready or confident enough to take solo exams.

Group Exams allow students to gain a qualification by working within a team, and will be offered at least once a year under the Elite Team Structure.

Solo exams are offered outside of the Elite Team classes, and one to one sessions, must be arranged under guidance for the Principal.

PERFORMANCE PRACTICE & SHOWCASES.

One of our main activities for Elite Team Students is for them to experience rehearsals and to prepare for structured performances.

Many of our Group Exams are based on performing extracts from an existing Musical or Published Works, there may be some principal character lines  / solo dialogue (depending on the grade pieces we select) which need to be filled .

We will give every student the chance to audition for some of these lines, however, to manage expectations, not every student will have the chance to have a solo / principal part (hence being a group exam). This is a fair representation of industry standards, and forms part of student training.

COSTS INVOLVED.

Our Elite Team Classes do carry more cost in comparison to our weekly classes. Please note that there will be no refunds for missed sessions, absences, or for student drop outs.

There may be additional costs involved such as ticket sales, costumes, and additional props / uniform.

TRINITY COLLEGE INFORMATION FOR PARENTS.

All of our Elite Team Classes undertake Group (and/or Solo) Examinations via Trinity College London (or alternative examination board). We’re also an Arts Award Centre, which can offer more tailored opportunities to gain a performing arts qualification.
